Numbers of Uninsured Climb: Between 2008 and 2009, nearly 4.5 million additional Americans went without health insurance, the largest single-year rise since the census bureau began tracking the figures in 1987, says the WSJ. The percentage of the population with private insurance fell to its lowest rate since that time, and those on government insurance rose to its highest. The most likely explanation: the economy.
